Along with the release of its much talked watches, Apple also unveiled its all-new MacBook on Monday March 9, 2015. Simply known as MacBook than MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, Apple has tseated a new line of notebooks to add to its ever expanding range.
Introspecting its design, the 12-inch MacBook features a super thin profile with an all new design that has already wooed the minds of tons of people all across the globe. The new baby manages to be 24 per cent thinner than its siblings, weights 907g and is 13.1mm thick. On the other hand, Apple has also revamped its keyboard completely. There are numerous rumours in the air that Apple might adopt a butterfly keyboard system which is thinner and each key would have its own individual LED backlight making typing more pleasurable. Apple who sold MacBook in silver skin only, this time has added two new colors to the range – Space Grey and Gold.
In addition to the keyboard, Apple has also made some huge changes in the Trackpad. Comprising of a glass surface nursing four force sensors and a taptic engine underneath, the Force Trackpad will correctly measure how much pressure is being applied each time. The new Force Click feature can be used in various ways. For instance, one can Force Click on a mail attachment and quickly preview it or click on date and time to create an event in the calendar.
MacBook’s 12-inch Retina Display is yet another feature that surprised us. The device being so slender and light weighted, it seemed an incalculable thing that Apple was able to incorporate a Retina display with 2304×1440 resolutions in it.
Next feature to talk about is that the logic board of MacBook is 67 per cent smaller as compared to that of MacBook Air. Also, Apple has eliminated internal fan and has installed an Intel Core M 1.3GHz processor, turbocharged up to 2.9GHz.
Ports is yet another thing that Apple has ditched from the new MacBook. Yes, there is no Magsafe, no USB 3, no Thunderbolt and not even SD card slot. Instead, USB Type – C is the only port in the entire notebook. The USB-C can be used for charging, for HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort and connecting peripherals. But one would require an external USB adaptor for plugging in the above mentioned accessories.
Last but not the least, Apple claims that this new MacBook has a strong battery life and is capable of running all day long. One can conveniently watch back to back views for 10 hours at a stretch or browse of 9 hours without plugging in battery adapter.
MacBook is expected to release on April 10 this year. The base model with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM will be sold at a price of $1,299. While on the other hand, the faster processor with 516GB SSD will be available at a price of $1,599.
Surely Apple has brought yet another comprehensive product in the notebook market. And whether it will be considered as revolutionary is just a matter a time to decide.
