Instagram Adds Support for Landscape and Portrait Format Photos

With its kick-start in 2010, the Image Sharing Social Networking platform ‘Instagram’ now supports landscape and portrait format photos. Instagram was known for its 640×640 square photos which is a very popular image sharing social network, now owned by Facebook. Instagram was launched five years ago with support to upload square sized images.

As everyone knows, Instagram allows you to add only square photos with the resolution off 640×640 pixels. Even if you upload any pic which is captured in portrait or landscape format, it was showing up as square image. But now, Instagram rolled out new update which will let their users to upload full size images regardless of resolution and format.

Android and iOS users who use Instagram app can update to the new version of the app from the Play Store and app store respectively to get this new feature. The company just announced this update because over 1/5 photos uploaded on Instagram are either in Portrait mode or Landscape mode. Over 300 Million active Instagram users were getting annoyed while uploading full size image. So, it is a very exciting update for all active Instagram users.

To upload full size images on Instagram you have to update the app to newest version 7.5. After updating, when you check photo gallery in Instagram app, you can see the formatting option. After tapping on it, you can select photo format from portrait and Landscape, zoom in-out and crop the image easily. With this feature, everyone can upload their full sized images on Instagram without getting annoyed with the compulsion of square photos. You can see full sized photos uploaded by other users in Instagram app feed directly.

Instagram has played well with this update to their app. Many users will get more engaged with Instagram now. Android Users can download newest version of Instagram from Google Play Store and iOS users can download it from Apple App Store.
