Xiaomi announces Mi Mobile telecom carrier service in China

After making a big name in the smartphone market and becoming China’s largest smartphone manufacture and the third largest in the world after Apple and Samsung, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is all ready to set it’s foot into the telecom industry with the Mi Mobile.

China’s telecom market is largely dominated by three main telecom carriers all of which are state owned. Private mobile virtual network operators or MVNOs as the abbreviation stands have in the past made attempts to stand in competition with the state owned telecom giants but have failed. But with China’s largest smartphone manufacturer stepping in the game, the game could turn and this could prove to be a golden chance for other MVNOs to do the same.

What these MVNOs do is buy network capacity from already present network carriers and sell it under their own brand with different plans. If news is to be believed, Xiaomi will buy this network capacity from either China Unicorn or China Telecom network.

Apparently, Xiaomi is not the only tech giant that has decided to step into the telecom network sector. About 6 months back, Google too announced the launching of their own mobile network named Fi. There have also been rumors about Apple working on launching their own mobile network service too but we haven’t had any official word on that from the tech giant so we can’t be too sure.

So if you live in China, get ready to test Xiaomi’s Mi Mobile mobile network which could soon be the best network in China. Do let us know about your views and suggestions on this and stay tuned to us for more.
