Chinese smartphone maker company Huawei, who was selling their smartphones under “Honor” brand on popular e-commerce giant Flipkart, decided to end their agreement with the company. Huawei launched their smartphone under the Brand name “Honor” a year ago, and started selling them exclusively through e-commerce giant Flipkart. Now, the company has decided to sell these smartphones from retail stores throughout India, so they can reach towards more customers who always buy something from Retail stores.
The Huawei Telecommunications India Director of Sales, Mr. P Sanjeev said in an interview to PTI that, “ We are seriously contemplating omnipresence sales channel strategy to expand our reach to customers. We get 75 percent of our sales from top 35 cities. We have to make plans to reach them out as everyone doesn’t buy online.”
Huawei made an exclusive agreement with Flipkart to sell its Honor brand smartphones only through this e-commerce website. But now, as Huawei’s sales plan, they are expanding customer reach by selling their smartphones through the retail stores in India. Mr. P Sanjeev also added that, Huawei headquarters wants to triple their sales in the Indian market and capture the minimum 10% of the smartphone market share by the end of the 2016. That’s why, they are targeting the top cities, where Huawei will start selling their smartphones via retail stores.
In India, Huawei is getting 70% of their sales of Honor brand smartphones from Top 35 cities. That’s why, they are targeting customers in these 35 cities by selling smartphones through the retail stores. Huawei is also planning to launch 2-3 new smartphone in Indian market by the end of 2016, which will be sold via both platforms, i.e., Online and Retail stores.
