ASUS has made a lot of news in the past couple of months, since the launch of their Zenfone 2 earlier in this year, which was the first smartphone running on Android to feature and have 4 GB of RAM, and since then many of the manufacturers have followed the foot steps. And since they have been witnessing quite decent growth in the Indian market, the company has decided to start manufacturing the devices in the country itself.
For the starters, ASUS will be manufacturing the ZenFone 2 Laser in India, and the next one on the list is the ZenFone Go. According to ASUS, they have set the goals high, as they are looking forward to manufacture around 150,000 device per month by the end of the financial year. Peter Chang, Regional Head, South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group – ASUS India, had to say this, “India offers us a huge opportunity as smartphone penetration is just 10%. We are excited to announce our local manufacturing facility that will cater to the growing demands of the market”. Also he said, that they are looking forward to dominate the country’s smartphone industry, and make an impact by getting their hands to the 5% of the market share.
In the last month itself, the company had came up with three new devices at the Zen Festival, which were the ZenFone 2 Laser, ZenFone Selfie, and Zenfone 2 Deluxe. And now we get to know the ZenFone 2 Laser will be manufactured in India itself, quite interesting. Also interestingly, the Zenfone 2 Laser’s launch on Flipkart has been pre poned by the manufacturer, seeing the huge response about the device.
Coming to the device, the ZenFone 2 Laser, comes with a 720p display, with a 13 Megapixel rear shooter, and about 5 Megapixel front facing camera. The back camera comes with Laser autofocus, which the company claims to focus in about 0.3 seconds. Furthermore, to protect the display, it has been deployed with Gorilla Glass 4. Rest of the specs remain pretty much same as that of the ZenFone 2. Whereas on the other hand, ZenFone Go, boasts an anti fingerprint coating, and LCD display with 720p resolution, which accounts for a pixel density of about 294 ppi.
