WhatsApp has rolled out the new feature , which will allow users to backup their messages in Google Drive. This feature was in testing for months and finally it was launched. This feature was rolled out after the official announcement of Google, about the integration of WhatsApp in their Cloud storage services.

With this feature, WhatsApp users can backup their personal chat history, images and videos on their Google Drive account. This is a very useful feature for those who with change their smartphones very often. Whenever you backup your data on Google Drive, you can restore it anytime and get back all data back in your WhatsApp.

For this feature to work, a WhatsApp user should connect his Google account first. And then, he can select the frequency of backups on Google Drive. This feature is not available on all versions. If you updated the WhatsApp to latest version, i.e., 2.12.304, then feature will not be available for you. For using this feature, you can download version 2.12.303, which is available on WhatsApp website or download the Signed APK version from any APK hosting site.

After Downloading and installing the version 2.12.303, just open the app. Now, click on the three dots on the top right of the screen.

Now, Go to Settings > Chats and Calls> Chat Backup.

Here, you can connect your Google Drive account to store your backup data. Below the Google Drive Settings option, you can see the option to link your Google account and select the frequency of the backup. Once you choose the frequency of the backup from Daily/Weekly/Monthly and Never, you’ll be asked to choose the Google account. That’s it!

You can backup the data over Wi-Fi connection or Cellular data connection or Wi-Fi+Cellular connection.

How to Restore WhatsApp Messages from Google Drive

It is very easy to restore the backup of your WhatsApp data. When you re-install WhatsApp, after verification of your mobile number, WhatsAPp will check if there is any Google Drive account which linked with that number. If WhatsApp founds previous backup, then you’ll be asked to Restore the update.

This feature is very useful for many people who frequently change their smartphones.
