Design and Build Quality

Talking about the design, the earphones have a sporty look. They go around your neck at the back from the left earpiece to the right earpiece. The right earpiece is the main one and houses all controls and the button for controlling and pairing the earphones. You also have the microUSB port and an indicator LED light. The power button on the earphones suffices as the play/pause button while the seek buttons when long pressed double as the volume rockers. The left earpiece is free of any buttons or controls. As the earphones are moisture proof, you will find a lot of rubber used in the making. The buttons are rubberized, the microUSB port is covered with a rubber flap and we must say, all the rubber does its job really well.

Bluetooth Pairing

Pairing these earphones with any gadget that has Bluetooth is fairly simple.

  1. Turn on the earphones using the power button. The LED will begin flashing Blue followed by a beep.
  2. Hold the power button till the LED starts flashing in a combination of Blue and Red. This indicates the earphones are now ready to pair to any device.
  3. Open the list of nearby Bluetooth devices available on your phone and select the iFrogz earphones.

That’s all it takes to pair these earphones to any device you want.

Audio Quality

Being audio devices, audio quality if of utmost importance to these iFrogz earphones. However with the added mobility, the audio quality takes a hit in most active earphones and these were no different. The audio quality was not bad but not great by any means. It was just average if you ignore the fact that these are a pair of active earbuds. The audio lacks a bit of clarity and the frequency range too could’ve been expanded to include more frequencies. However, the active factor comes into play and keeping that in mind, we’d say these are pretty good.

Battery Life

The 65 mAh powerhouse in this pair of earphones keeps them going for 5.5 hours after a charge, or so the company claims. Now the running time sure depends on the volume level you’re using it at but we managed to get well over 4 hours of usage on a single charge which is pretty good. The microUSB port lets you charge the earphones.

Verdict

Priced aggressively at Rs. 2,999 these are not exactly pocket friendly, neither the cheapest earphones available in the market. However, iFrogz promised a pair of active bluetooth, tangle free and moisture resistant earphones and has delivered that. The sound quality could have been better but its nothing that will hurt your eyes.
