There are different ways to get accidentally deleted files back from your storage media, one being the use of third party recovery tools. Among the lot of such programs available today, we picked one – the EaseUS Data Recovery software. It is from the company that is well-known for their data recovery, backup and partition manager tools. Here, we will see if their recovery software that we have in our table is up to the mark or not in this review.
The EaseUS Data Recovery software is available in three main editions for both Windows and Mac. A free version which has a capacity limitation of 2 GB. A Pro version without Bootable media for emergency and lastly a Pro version with the Bootable media for emergency which helps you when your system cannot boot/start. The software can recover all kind of files including documents, audio, video, graphics, email, etc. Works with file systems including FAT (FAT12,FAT16,FAT32), ExFAT, NTFS, NTFS5, ext2, ext3, HFS+. It supports any storage media that your PC can access.
When we launch the software, a wizard opens up showing the hard drives and other storage media attached to the computer. The interface looks neat and is categorized too. After we select the location that is needed to be scanned, we press the Scan button.
The quick scan completes its work fast and the results appear in the next window. It is orderly listed with filter and directory options for ease of access. We can also search the file with a search term to find a particular deleted file. At the time the results are shown here, a deep scan is already initiated and running. It is the process that scans more carefully, taking more time. We have an option to pause this scan if we want or just have it paused if we are satisfied with the quick scan results. We were able to find recently lost files and documents within the quick scan results area. We still waited to see what the deep scan was able to do.
After completion, the deep scan results appeared in a tab below the quick scan results. Pressing it brought all the files found in the right side. We can change the view from list view to few other views like thumbnails. Deep scan results looked to be much more advanced with more directories and naturally, with more deleted files to choose from. However, the results sometimes show a file or folder that is not deleted but on the disk at the moment. After the scan, we can choose the files we need from the list here and then press Recover to recover all the files. It will ask the location to save the recovered files on. The recovered files are fine and they worked without any problems.
Final words
The EaseUS Data Recovery software worked as intended and provided great results. Some things that separate this file recovery software from other similar third-party ones are: the clean design of interface and the conveniently made automatic deep scan after its quick scan which is smart. It is even available for Android and iOS smartphone. If you ask us, this is the recovery tool that we will choose for any platform.
