How to Hide Lock from User Menu Tile on Windows 8

You know that Windows 8 develops itself in sense of security. You can find two or three additional security features such like pin password, picture password etc. those could aid you to make protected your personal computer. You can find the lock button at numerous places and the User Menu Tile is one of them where from you can easily lock your computer. If you are relatively experienced with Windows operating system, you can lock your PC either by pressing Win + L or by creating a lock button or from user menu tile.

Till now everything is Ok. But if you want to make more secure your PC, you can easily disable the lock button. It helps in a different way.

How to hide lock from user menu tile?

Today I am going to show you this trick that will be done through Group Policy Editor instead of using any third party tool. You know that Group Policy Editor is quite handy to use and not yet so safe to use it casually. You might face various problems due to change any unwanted settings from this editor.

However, let’s get started;

At first open Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following options;

Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> File Explorer

From the right pane, you will get an option that says Show lock in the user tile menu. By default, the setting is Not Configured when you have to change this setting to Disabled after clicking twice.

Now make sure your changes.

That’s all! If you want to re-enable, you just have to go back to the previous setting from the same location.
