How to Disable SkyDrive Integration in Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 is the mostly used Windows operating system out there and SkyDrive is an inbuilt feature of Windows 8.1. After connecting to your Microsoft account, you can access different features including SkyDrive on your Windows 8.1 PC.

Although this is really helpful to get a cloud storage in the sidebar of Windows Explorer but sometime, you might experience a cluttered computer even when you have everything right. On the other end, there is nothing to say about SkyDrive since this is one of top cloud storage from all around the world.

You can easily carry your documents, media files etc. with you through SkyDrive since this app is available for almost every major platforms like Windows, Android etc.

After considering all, you know that nothing is perfect and SkyDrive is one of them. Sometime, you might fall in trouble because of SkyDrive. Here’s how you can turn it off.

How to disable SkyDrive integration in Windows 8.1?

This is very simple and not yet so time spending. You don’t have to install any third-party software to complete the entire task. Today, I will use Local Group Policy Editor to do it when it is also possible to do the same with registry Editor. But I got some problem while testing and that’s why I am showing you this trick only with Group Policy Editor.

At first, open your group policy editor. To do so, press Win + R and type gpedit.msc and hit enter. Then navigate through Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> SkyDrive. On the right pane, you can find Prevent the usage of SkyDrive for file storage.

Double click on it and set it Enabled. Now make sure your changes.

That is all! Now whenever you will go to access SkyDrive, you will be greeted with the following error message.
