Xiaomi is one of the largest Smartphone manufacturing OEM in China, and has been making great influence in the Indian markets ever since they stepped into the Indian Smartphones market as well.
All the products that Xiaomi has announced in India, which includes the Xiaomi Mi 3, Redmi 1s, Redmi Note, Redmi 2, Mi 4 and even the Xiaomi MiPad have all been accepted by the people and has been selling in quite some great numbers, even though Xiaomi products are online exclusive currently. And adding to its lineup of products, Xiaomi announced the long waited MiBand and a brand new Smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 4i in India today.
In an event held in Delhi on Thursday 23rd of April 2015, Xiaomi launched their Mi Band in India and also introduced a new Android Smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 4i.
The Mi Band has been out for purchase in China from last year and we all have been waiting for it to launch in India. And after a long wait Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi Band in India, and it will be available for purchase on mi.com from April 28 with a price tag of INR 999.
The Mi Band is a fitness tracker wrist band that also tracks your sleep patterns and is also capable of unlocking your Android Smartphone or tablet whenever the band is paired with, and brought within proximity of the respective device. The Mi Band is also water resistant with its IP67 rating and the company assures that the Mi Band will have a battery backup that lasts up to 30 days.
However, the main attraction of the event was actually the global announcement of a brand new Smartphone. Xiaomi greatly emphasized on the launch of a new product from India, as to let people know that it does consider India as a major market after its home ground, China.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i is actually a cheaper version of the Xiaomi Mi 4, which is currently the flagship Android Smartphone from Xiaomi. The hardware specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 4i include a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 615 processor backed up by 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage space, 13 MP primary camera with LED flash, 5 MP secondary front facing camera, 3120 mAh battery and a 5 inch 1080p Full HD display with a pixel density of 441 PPI.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i does not feature premium material for construction as the Xiaomi Mi 4, and rather has a polycarbonate body, which is remarkably light at 130 grams and is also thin at just 7.8 mm. The Smartphone also lacks a MicroSD card slot for external storage expansion and comes in a variety of color variants which includes White, Black, Blue, Pink and Orange color options.
Regarding the battery performance, Xiaomi claims the battery to be of enough to power the device over a day and half of usage. The Xiaomi Mi4i also supports the quick charging technology which, according to Xiaomi, will be able to charge the device up from 0-40% in about an hour of plugging in.
