Since the launch of the new sub brand, YU by Micromax it has created a lot of buzz in the smartphone market. They came into the limelight, after the issue they had with Cyanogen and OnePlus for the rights to launch a Cyanogen device in India. The company benefitted from it big time, and got the exposure they needed.
YU launched a couple of smartphones in the market, the most successful being the YUreka. The company has been trying to compete with many of the budget smart phone manufacturers, most successful been Xiaomi. And the company has now launched two new power banks, which takes them into competition with Xiaomi again. Xiaomi had launched their Power Bank in India months ago, and honestly they were a huge hit. The build quality was amazing, as well as the performance.
Coming to YU, they launched two versions, (named as YU JYUICE ) which are the 5000 mAh and the 10000 mAh ones. The 5000 mAh is priced at about 699 INR, and the 10000 mAh is priced at about 1099 INR, again we see a resemblance in the price as that of Xiaomi Power Banks. The power banks are up on sale on Indian e-commerce website, Snapdeal.
The Power Banks, feature an aluminum alloy shell, along with curved edges. The Power banks are quite slim at about 8mm. The 5000 mAh power bank, comes with an output of 5V/1.2A which is sufficient enough to charge a 2000 mAh battery about 2.3 times. The 10000 mAh power bank has an output of 5V/2.4A and it can charge a 2000 mAh battery about 4.6 times. Also the power banks have a LED light which trun red, when the battery is below 30 percent, and show yellow when the charge is between 30 and 70 percent, and green above 70 percent.
So let us see how will these Jyuice Power banks perform in the market, specially when the Xiaomi Power Banks at the same price and specs have set up a high bar. We will come to know about it in the coming days.
